As soon as you walk in you notice the bright modern look. I had the soft shell crab benedict. It was very good. It tasted great. I really enjoyed the crab meat. I tried the parmesan tomatoes they were good but not worth the money for so simple a dish. The sweet potato biscuit was great. I have never had one before. The kids enjoyed the pancakes. I also had potato pancakes. they were excellent. I loved the green onions in them. I am big on scallions. We will be back. I want to try the citrus pancakes next time.
We had a great time. It is a nice romantic place to have a night out. I could not see taking the kids. It is a nice slow paced meal with good food. I had the fondue delight it has a nice mix of seafood and meat. If you wish to go make a reservation. They are busy and fill fast. This is also a slow meal you will be there for a lot longer than a normal meal. This makes it nice to be able to socialize. We had the cheddar cheese fondue and they added bacon to it. For desert we had the flaming turtle . It was very good. We had a nice time and would go again.
Unfortunately the sushi was very low quality. One roll the fish had went bad. We let the management know and they told us the chef said it looked ok. I love suhi and almost threw up when I tasted that roll. It was definitely not worth the money. The rice was loose, which is a bad sign to me. The quality is better at a buffet. I do not like to give bad reviews but this place is to be avoided. If you want to est at this style of restaurant I suggest trying Oyummy sushi the quality is much better.
I was pleasantly surprised as it is very good quality at a decent price. They have all you can eat sushi, sashimi, tempura, soup salad and other options. It is all you can eat , made to order. It was well worth the money.
I am not a wine drinker but I did enjoy his wines. My favorites were the srawberry, pear and honey mead. I would recommend trying it out. It is a small family owned locally sourced winery. I am waiting to try his apple cinnamon wine it is due in about 2 weeks.
Mr Lee and his family are very friendly and always make time to talk to you. The ingredients are very fresh. The menu can change depending on what is freshly available. The tuna berry good to go is incredible. It may sound strange but strawberries and tuna compliment each other very well. He has been at this location for over 17 years. I highly recommend it.
I got a bianca deluxe substituting the chicken with sausage. It was a good quality pizza. It comes with NY style very large slices. I enjoyed the pizza. I also got a anti pasto salad. It was disappointing. The quality was fine but it was just meat 3 rolls of meat and cheese on lettuce. We also got some free garlic knots. The pizza was the winner. It is a little pricy but nice for a once in a while place.
The big draw is there is a very large amount of variety. It has a large amount of Asian dishes. They have sushi, dim sum, a noodle station, Mongolian, seafood, and some American food for the kids. It is a good deal for the money. It is not high quality but that is expected for the price.
This is a wonderful restaurant. My wife did a paper for school about it so I am putting her paper here.
The restaurant is in Williamsburg at
264 G Mclaws circle. The hours of operation are Monday thru Thursday 11:30am until 3:00pm
then 5:00pm until 9:00pm Friday and Saturday they stay open until 10:30pm and Sunday from 5:00pm until 9:30pm.The seat capacity was about 60 and the turn over rate was quite slow for a Saturday night.
The Emerald is located very close to Bush Gardens in an alcove with a few other restaurants. It is set in strip mall with quite a few other business around it .The parking lot was quite large and we had no problems getting a space, even though it was a Saturday night.
The menu for Emerald Thai was very nice. They offer several different types of curry, as well as
some more traditional types of Pad Thai (rice noodles). They offer everything from soups and salads to a full main course. I thought the price range was very reasonable. The soups, salads, and appetizers range form $4.00 up to $6.95. The entrees were anywhere from $7.95 up to $15.95. The curry ranges from $8.95 to $15.95. The Pad Thai ranges from $7.95 to $12.95. They also try to offer quite a variety of vegetarian entrees and curry too. The higher end of the scale is if you have seafood in you dish.
My family and I ate there on a Saturday night and were seated right away. The service was fantastic. The interior of the restaurant was a sea foam green .It was very soothing. The dining area has large square tables and the tops are covered in a sparkly print. The chairs are white leather high backs. There is a large fish tank as soon as you walk in and there are three more through out the dining area. We sat right in front of two and were able to watch some very colorful fish dance around the tank. During our meal I was able to speak to the waiter as well as the owner at great length about the restaurant.
Her name is Moony, and she and her whole family came from Thailand many years ago. She worked in quite a few different restaurants in order to save up enough money for them to buy a place of their own. Now they have two establishments. Emerald in Williamsburg and Pattaya in Yorktown. She and I had a long conversation after dinner about her family business. We spoke about how she is trying to keep the food as authentic as possible. We also talked quite in depth about the westernization of traditional recipes. She has tried to keep her establishments true to the roots as much as possible, but she told me that most American can not or will not eat traditional Thai food, due to the spices and some of the other ingredients that are used. .
Her mother and aunt run the kitchen at Emerald and her husband and uncle run the kitchen at Pattaya in Yorktown. I was able to ask her lots of questions, such as how the food is prepared and if she pre ordered anything or if it was all made in the kitchen the same day. Her family friend who was our waiter said the Tud Mun (fish cakes) were ordered but that was about it. She and her mother had been making them by hand everyday but it was becoming to costly. They also order things like the duck and large parts of meat in advance, and just use what they need for the day. They try to get the seafood fresh but sometimes that is hard. Everything was so fresh and the greens were very crisp. She does the orders about every two days for both the restaurants.
We ordered steamed dumplings with shrimp and pork. They are made by hand everyday. We also had Satay which is chicken on a skewer grilled in curry and coconut sauce served with peanut sauce. The peanut sauce is used in a variety of other dishes, so they make that fresh as well. We also tried the Tod Mun (fish cakes), fried curry fish cakes with a hint of sweet tofu. We also had Vegetable Tempura. The tempura was sweet and the batter was not to thick. They used vegetables like pea pods, baby corn as well as sweet potato, and mushrooms. For our entrees we had Pineapple duck, which was so crisp and delicious. I had the Emerald shrimp, which was just spicy enough to make you want to eat more of it. All the dishes came with jasmine rice pressed in to the shape of a flower. My daughter and her friend had fried rice dishes one with crab and the other with beef. They both said that it was good. For all the food and drinks we ordered our bill was less than $100, and the girls had food to take home for the next day.
The sandwiches are amazing. The prices sound a little high until you see the size of the sandwiches. I had the super reuben. The meat actually melted in your mouth. This was the best sandwich I have ever had. You can barely pick the sandwich up it is so big. I actually finished it but I felt like I was going to burst. It was the only meal I needed to eat for the entire day. I was still full that night. There must have been a pound of meat on it. Everything about it was great. I wish I had brought a camera but I will next time. We had the potato pancake which were also delicious. We ate one of the kids black and white cookies, it was very soft and delicious. I am still mouth watering over the meal the next day. I can not wait to go back again.
It had a very nice atmosphere. It is set in a strip mall but the inside is nicer than some stand alone restaurants. It has a nice waterfall and is romantically lit. They have a large menu. We ate sushi. The Bahama roll is worth the trip alone. It has fried banana on it which I have never seen on sushi before but the effect was incredible. I could eat a couple of these rolls by themselves. I believe this will be our new sushi place to visit in the future without the kids. I highly recommend it.
I recommend getting the Maza platter appetizer. It has Hummus, Baba Ghanouj, Tabouli, and 4 Grape Leaves served with olives, tomatoes, pickles, pita bread and Labané (tzaziki dip). I would be happy with this alone. They have a nice selection plus are vegetarian friendly if that is your thing. They have a connected store so you can buy food and supplies to take home with you. They also cater if you have an event and you want something memorable.
